There are two points:

1.       How to memorise
2.       How to consolidate

As for memorising then I recommend doing it gradually. For example, a person starts with Aayatul Kursee, Suratul Ikhlaas, Suratul Falaq and Suratun Naas three times morning and evening. Then add one more dhikr. Memorise and repeat it every day until it is memorised. Then after that add one more dhikr.

Some brothers want to memorise all the adkhaar in one go. Maybe a few people can manage it but the majority cannot. Then on top of that mostly it will not be a strong memorisation.

I say take it step by step according to what you can do even if it takes you a week or two to learn one dhikr after you have repeated it and said it every morning and evening. This method is what I recommend and this is the most firm and easiest way. Rather than memorising all the adhkaar in one go.

As for consolidating the adhkaar then this is by saying it regularly. If you have memorised a dhikhr say it constantly and do not leave it. It will become easy for you. Don’t you see that if a person repeats some aayaat in salaah they become consolidated more than others? This way is very successful. Allaah bless you. If you have memorised then continue and this will become easy for you like the adhkaar in salaah because you are reading it constantly along with the person recognising the greatness of the matter of remembering Allaah. From the aspect it is worship so it is a blessing - from the blessings (na’eem) of Jannah on this earth is the Dhikr of Allaah.

As we have mentioned many times, in Jannah every deed is cut off: a person who enters Paradise does not pray, fast or give zakah in Jannah. He only performs dhikr (remembrance of Allaah). He remains in the dhikr of Allaah in Jannah and this indicates that dhikr of Allaah is a blessing from the blessings (na’eem) of Jannah. A person recognises that dhikr is a blessing from the blessings of Jannah that Allaah has legislated for us in this world.

From the aspect of dhikr, dhikr protects a person from evil, and the world is full of evil. So with this dhikr of Allaah , the Mighty and Exalted, protects a person from evil.
