Saying Dhikr after the Fard
Obligatory Prayer
Shaykh Bin Baz رحمه الله said:
When a Muslim prays Jumu’ah or any other obligatory prayer,
he should not pray another prayer until he has spoken or left the masjid.
Speech consists of what Allaah has legislated of the adhkaar such as saying ‘astaghfirullaah’,
astaghfirullaah’, astaghfirullaah’.
Allaahumma antas Salaam wa minkas Salaam tabaarakta yaa dhul
Jalaali wal ikraam.
After that you say the other adhkaar which Allaah has
legislated. So if a person says salaam of jumu’ah then do not pray an extra
nafl prayer straight afterwards so he himself or other people do not think it
is joined to it or that he is still praying jumu’ah. This is the same for the
other prayers such as Dhuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib, ‘Ishaa and Fajr. There has to be a
gap where you speak such as remembering Allaah (dhikr), other than that or leaving
the Masjid so that it is known that it is not joined to what came before.

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Whoever says ‘subhaanAllaah’ after every (obligatory) prayer thirty-three
times, and praises Allah thirty-three times, and declares His Greatness
thirty-three times, ninety-nine times in all, and says to complete a
hundred:" There is no god worthy of worship except Allaah, having no partner
with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him is praise due, and He is All-Able
over everything," his sins will be forgiven even If these are as abundant
as the foam of the sea.
Sahih Muslim 597a
